Perhaps a map like Overgrown, or even overgrown, at night… or perhaps a different section of Overgrown.
Or even a map like barracks, but with perhaps a more vertical feel. I’d like a map with a more vertical gameplay mechanic.
So night/wide open/vertical…
Austin Ivansmith // February 4, 2008 at 8:19 pm
I also want to see something more vertical. Other than that, I don’t think there’s a bad map in COD4, so more of the same for me please.
DragonflyUK // February 4, 2008 at 8:26 pm
I demand 402
a remade “carentan” map with a middle eastern skin/theme to it,also some snowy maps would be nice and also some more wide open green/foresty battle areas would go amiss.
also ina future patch a option to switch the lighting on selected if not all maps would be great and change a current map completly! get cracking IW ….thatsa order!
Clint // February 4, 2008 at 8:38 pm
Let’s get some maps with sections that are pitch black, so we can finally use our night vision! Not the whole map, just the insides of buildings or something.
G // February 4, 2008 at 8:39 pm
Great to see new maps coming on the way. I would definitely love to see some night maps to utilize the NVG more often.
Foxhound // February 4, 2008 at 8:56 pm
A lot of people have already said a night themed map so to be out of the box how about a “No Fighting in the War Room” themed map. Perhaps some large crates clustered together for CQC, an open area for the exchange of gun fire. I am quite sure you get the idea, or the same sort of idea but inside the actual News Station from “Charlie Don’t Surf”.
A beach level from “Charlie Don’t Surf” could be be awesome as well with a dynamic background like Bog. Have tracers filling the sky from the fleet of war ships that was present in the loading screen.
Either way I know what ever y’all decide to make will be awesome. Thanks 402 and thanks IW!
mmmkay // February 4, 2008 at 8:58 pm
How about getting the consoles the patch the PC guys have?
Also, I won’t buy it unless it has achievements.
Broward // February 4, 2008 at 9:00 pm
I think it would be cool to have a forest/jungle type level, maybe throw in some treehouse like structures connected by rope bridges? I guess it would be hard to fit this into the spirit of the other maps though.
wickedfool // February 4, 2008 at 9:05 pm
I would like to see a night time map set in a forest environment. The forest would need lots of trees and thick brush to conceal players. Have some open areas with some campfires and a few cabin type buildings. Maybe have a single 3 story building in the center that could overlook the entire map from its many windows. We need more reasons to use Night Vision other than the boat.
Keep us posted when you can on DLC. Its taken a long time so I am hoping for early Spring rather than later.
Joel // February 4, 2008 at 9:06 pm
An abandoned Russian sports stadium (soccer or rugby) with a bunch of debris on the field so there can be tactical infantry fights and snipers can use the stands and skyboxes.
M3ph1sto // February 4, 2008 at 9:10 pm
I want to see a level with a big tower in the middle like in Beaumont-Hague, France from Cod2
that would be kool
Gdogg // February 4, 2008 at 9:12 pm
Other than the ones mentioned, how bout a map like the one in the SP where they were fighting inside the TV station. All those offices for close quarters combat and tvs blowing up all over the place would make it wild.
Drake22x // February 4, 2008 at 9:29 pm
a big snow sniper map with arctic ghillies would be great
Jason4815 // February 4, 2008 at 9:34 pm
We need maps with more variety. No more maps that have that same middle eastern town look. Some maps with snow and some different grass maps would be nice. Also some maps that offer the use of the Night Vision goggles would be good to, perhaps a map like Overgrown but at night.
GOON360 // February 4, 2008 at 9:39 pm
I would love to see bigger maps as well. More “Overgrown” size maps, in the dark perhaps, and with more shrubbery.
Perhaps some variants of the older maps with a different time and weather? Crossfire in the dark with rain would be sickning.
Books83 // February 4, 2008 at 9:40 pm
I know this has been said before but I think that it still needs to be said. More night maps where the night vision goggles are actually usefull.
DrawnZero // February 4, 2008 at 9:50 pm
Bringing new maps to COD4:MW is exciting. I will be monitoring this blog very closly, and as the maps progress I would like to see sneak previews.
I would like to see a map where the sun is low in the sky, like District, except for it is a wide open map with lots of places to hide like Overgrown. Or even better, a night version of Overgrown or even Backlot to make more use of Night Vision.
One of my favourite maps is Downpour, especially the enviroment and weather conditions. I would like to see more maps like this, or even maps like District, Strike, Crossfire, or Backlot with these weather conditions.
As another thought, why not make an intense map like Shipment. Except it is in a building with say three floors with many hiding places. Or a building with two floors, and a small ourside area.
On a side note, please try to make sure the maps are secure, so players can’t find flaws and exploit them.
Another idea, what about a huge facility surrounded by a forest. I would very much love to see a map like this in COD4:MW.
I like the snow and sort of darkness of Bloc, maybe inplement this into a map such as Overgrown or Downpour.
A good one, for a small intense map like Shipment, would be to have that plane in the bonus mission at the end of the game as a map.
WRCFAN // February 4, 2008 at 9:50 pm
How about a map that takes place inside an old run down office building. That would make for some nice close quarters combat.
Stang 98k // February 4, 2008 at 9:51 pm
BIG maps! Big enough for 8v8 battles…no more tiny maps like “showdown” or “shipment”.
Mid-sized maps with a mix of outdoor and indoor CQC would be cool.
More maps that are NOT in a desert environment. Forests, fields, snow, mud, and if it has to be in the desert, throw in a dust storm so it’s hard to see!
And please, please, please give us at least one map where the use of NVG are needed…a dark warehouse or something. That would be cool…
Lucas S // February 4, 2008 at 9:53 pm
Why dont you guys fix the online first.
It’s a shame that what could have been an awesome game is becoming more and more disappointing. The lack of online support around the holidays was bad enough, but now the failure to address the abuse by some users is becoming even worse.
Between the glitchers, the hex editors, the team killers, and the rest…it’s becoming obvious that the IW team didn’t do enough testing before launching this game. Match that with the fact that they are about as fast as a snail in addressing the problems with their game, and I’m going to have a $60 drink coaster in the near future.
Was their thought from the beginning to put out a half-baked product, make their money up front, and then abandon the whole mess while they laugh their way to the bank?
All I know is that this is the absolute last game I’ll ever waste money on from Infinity Ward,
Axess2084 // February 4, 2008 at 10:00 pm
Sadly, I decided to trade both versions I bought in (PS3 and X360).
The reason I did this is the lack of IW addressing the problems with cheaters on the console versions. People using Lag Switches, lousy hit detection, and ridiculously bad spawning problems have soured the experience for me. I may buy the game used later on when these problems have been dealt with. Until then, flashy new maps won’t fix the aggravation of being owned by some idiot with a lag switch and the inherent problems with the multiplayer code.
Drake22x // February 4, 2008 at 10:01 pm
by big snow sniper map with arctic ghillie I ment mountain area map
P.s you should put an edit feature lol
Josh // February 4, 2008 at 10:07 pm
A map based on the TV station from “Charlie Don’t Surf” would be awesome, as would the second half of the “No Fighting in the War Room” - starting with the section where the main path is blocked off, and you need to take one of the two side pathways to get down the hallway. Being able to chuck a grenade and start some folks on fire w/ the gas lines would be awesome.
CoD 2 maps like El Alamein, Egypt and Carentan could be a lot of fun as well.
Forrest // February 4, 2008 at 10:08 pm
awesome
a few questions
1. Whats the cost going to be? 800?
2. how many of them are there going to be?
3. can we see Map interactivity? like dogs, or a level around chernobyl with Radiation
4. defantly want a snow map.
Thanks!
Meteor // February 4, 2008 at 10:14 pm
Weather Effects would be EPIC!
Downpour is tons of fun due to the Rain Backdrop.
Jason4815 // February 4, 2008 at 10:15 pm
Forrest made a good point with the radiation. The could do it like some of the maps in COD 2 where if you go outside the boundaries you get killed by mines. This way you would die by radiation. That would be cool.
obiwanpow // February 4, 2008 at 10:18 pm
Any chance of of updated COD3 (and 2) maps. Maybe a version of Eder Dam or Crossing but modernized(what it looks like today)?
Lucas S // February 4, 2008 at 10:22 pm
Knowing infinity ward they will just grab maps that people made from the pc and charge use 10 dollars for 2-3 maps.
StealthRecon09 // February 4, 2008 at 10:24 pm
Some things I would like to see-
- Large indoor map similar to Vacant but much biggers with more stories.
- Large outdoor map with barns and other large building
- An underground lair based off of “No Fighting in the War Room” but redesigned for good gameplay
- Maps designed around other gametypes besides TDM
- And can you add some Easter Eggs just for laughs???
Snoopy // February 4, 2008 at 10:28 pm
I would love to see snow maps and also on built around the single player map where you blow up the radio tower. SNOW! snow! SNOW!!!!!
TooEasyToOffend // February 4, 2008 at 10:35 pm
Would love to see some night/darker maps or indoor outdoor maps that force night vision in some rooms. Also it would be amazing to see some open snow maps for sniping like the maps from cod1 and 2.
TooEasyToOffend // February 4, 2008 at 10:39 pm
I know i commented already but it would be really neat to have a battle on a plane or plane hangars. Not like the final mile high club achievement but rather a larger army cargo plane or airfield. It would give for nice sniping alleys as well as close quarter combat. But if it were to just take place in a plane, make the weathering effects as if it were in air.
Gretsch // February 4, 2008 at 10:45 pm
A forest map is definetly the most needed map. You could have some cabins and/or bunkers but I think it would be best if it was mainly outside. Lots of trees, bushes etc.
And, you guessed it, snow maps and night maps. Snow camo for guns would have to be added also for this.
More hardcore modes are also needed and what would be wrong with having 10 custom class slots instead of 5 so that we don’t need to keep switching around constantly?
playa // February 4, 2008 at 10:52 pm
map with rain or snow… nighttime map… and another small map like shipment… maybe just a little bigger…. and war room
AND FOR GOODNESS SAKE… RELEASE THE PATCH ALREADY!
Thumpthis // February 4, 2008 at 10:54 pm
Would like to see more night maps, give us options to change the time of the maps we already have
Unseen 5hadow // February 4, 2008 at 11:12 pm
I think the map from rescuing Nikoli would be a perfect multiplayer map with the darkness and the overwatch positions and the barrels of fire would make for some immersive settings. Also the snowy map from when you rescue Griggs would be pretty tight too. But I also like the weather effects on Downpour and think a blizzard or dust storm in a map would be pretty cool too. I like all the maps except for the really small ones so i trust you guys will deliver. I do think you should add some weapons and one of them should be the Magpul Masada. Amazing gun there.
BunsenBeaker27 // February 4, 2008 at 11:44 pm
Nice to hear the official word finally.
The one thing that MM is lacking right now is large maps that can support 9v9 matches well. Pipeline and Overgrown do well, but we need some additional and even larger maps. The Achilles heel of several maps (Pipeline, Crash, Downpour) despite their size is that there are some significant choke points that make the map play smaller than they are. Overgrown and Countdown are probably two of the most fluid maps with minimal choke points. Many of the rural levels from the Russian portions of the game had an open dynamic to them. I don’t know if it would be possible but the town from the C-130 mission I feel would make an excellent 9v9 map. Recalling COD2 maps that had a great balance of cover and openness: Wallendar, Beaumount-Hague, St. Louet, Beltot and Brecourt (actually almost all of the France based ones) Overall, most of the maps are excellent for 3v3 up to 6v6. We just need some larger maps for 9v9 with minimal choke points that enable more mid and long range combat than CQB stuff.
TSR6 // February 5, 2008 at 12:31 am
Give me a suuuper long range map for sniping. I want to be able to snipe longer range than just one side of overgrown to the other. Making sniping so that it’s a skill to and hard to see the other person and not just a hiding game.
ryan lynch // February 5, 2008 at 12:31 am
hey the maps are mostly awesome, but what id really like is some maps with more of a realistic advantage for snipers. with the RDS in this game, nearly every gun can have the range of a sniper rifle and its becoming frustrating to die at llong range from a p90. i understand the maps need to be balanced for all weapons but there should be places where a sniper outranges all the other weapons.
xXxDarkCha0sxXx // February 5, 2008 at 12:33 am
Maybe a map were you HAVE to use your nightvision at certain spots.
Pat M // February 5, 2008 at 12:35 am
Not too derail things too far, but how common is cheating on the console side? I’ve never seen anyone who looked to be using a lag switch on the PC version, and have only a few times questioned whether someone was actually earning their kills. Is it really that bad? Can people suspected of cheating not be kicked from games?
Also: in defence of IW I don’t think it’s really too fair to blame them for people who cheat using custom built hardware. That’s not exactly the easiest thing to combat…
DJ COOP // February 5, 2008 at 12:43 am
I’m with Stang…a DESERT SANDSTORM map would be AWESOME, but make it around some ancient ruins in the desert….and yes, MORE OVERGROWN-TYPE MAPS PLEASE

This angers me beyond words. We were supposed to get a patch now its been months and no word. Today a magical press release out of the blue with no hints to the community here on the forums ahead of time and no mention what so ever about the patch. Not only are we being taken for granted but ignored and disrepected.
So is the patch going to arrive before Spring?
They couldn’t even be bothered to set a date just a vaugue mention of a 5 month window Spring 2008.
I am so mad if they can’t release a patch in a timely manner I doubt they cam meet a Spring release date.
Arrrrgh.!!mother@$%&!@
they didn’t even see fit to post any details. Was it really necessary to do a an Official Press Release for something we already knew. Wow COD4 is getting new Maps….wow thats a shocker.
thats gonna set the media on fire.
I can just imagine the PR Boss approving this statement which says absolutely nothing that people didn;t already know.
Ok lets release this load and call it BIG NEWS

WildCat87 // February 5, 2008 at 2:28 am
More night maps and more weather effects, like snow and sandstorms and such. That would be AMAZING. You guys already did a few levels with rain. Expand on that idea.
Chitowndrunk // February 5, 2008 at 2:28 am
I would love to see new abilities added along with a map that has a kennel in it. After a 10 kill streak you can trigger “release the hounds” and dogs go after the enemies.

Deffiantly wanna see some maps from CoD2 brought back to CoD4! Maps Like Caen, Carentan, Burgundy and Stalingrad! That would be so awesome…
Also can we please have a CTF gametype, that was my favorite gametype in CoD!
Greta work IW, Keep It Up!!!!!
LoganbeRRy03 // February 5, 2008 at 2:43 am
One other thing, Can someone please inform mew to why they want a map that asks for night vision. I can’t picture it being awesome but frankly the night vision on this game gives me a headahce. Maybe IW could tone down the shade of green that its on. Also if you do make a night map make it so there are some houses wiht back lights and porch lights just to really give it like a night-time village battle feel!
CG // February 5, 2008 at 2:56 am
>>>>>What would be great: 15 or 20 kill streak: rabid dog pack.<<<<<
In the spirit of the new DLC announcement, what do you hope to see?
Lots of choices, no outrageous prices.
Leave a comment and let me know what you’d like to see more of in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare? More hidden areas, 300 headshots anyone?, more unlockables… but thats probably hard
What kind of maps are you hoping to see?
Sniping, Dark, Shiphopping, Full out building map (mall perhaps?), treading old ground with campaign maps, ect. Overall just interesting maps. I like the maps now but they have this enclosed feel to them. Maybe switch up the spawning areas.

1- all the above about different weather effects, snow & night maps.
2-more unlockables & challenges (ex. 200-300 kills & headshots for 2000-3000 XP points)
3-additional perks & attachments (ex. for sniping really long ranges there should be a scope that allows you to zoom in twice the distance like double zoom)
4-just a suggestion…maybe we can get some or maybe all the maps from COD2 as a bonus pack
I like to see maps similar to Moscow, Toujane, & Wallender.
5-on custom matches we should have the option to select wheather types & day/night times.
I will add more when I think of them

Where a team won’t be spawn camped in domination for clan matches. I love the open feel of them. Maybe make a map like Showdown, District, Backlot, or Overgrown where both sides are even in Sabotage. Sl33stak5150 // February 5, 2008 at 11:52 am
Here’s what I’m looking for.
#1 A small South American village from the Amazon Basin. This would be 8-10 “huts” that sit up on stilts about 5 feet from the ground, then maybe a BIG “hut type building” in the center that was full of cover say totems and the like. The surrounding are would be lush rainforest that was playable. This would be my CQC map.
#2 Would be based on the conflict that took place in Bosnia. Think of something like Pipeline, but replace the warehouses with farm houses, and add about 4-6 “levels” to the terrain..i.e. More hills, and add plenty of trees.
this would be my “sniper map”. Make this map have the weather effects of falling snow too.
#3 This would be a MODERN urban city. Maybe a major U.S. or European city w/ big skyscrapers for a back drop. This could have a migh rise with a few floor available for play (think tight office setting CQC), But these high rises could also offer excellent sniping positions to the action taking place in the parking garage across the street. Yes, a parking garage, the spiral type with LOTS of cars (some destructive, some not-to avoid a massive chain reaction of explosions). This would be my Mid-size map.
#4 A Jamaican shanty town. lots of twists and turns, and flimsy shacks that offer lots of weak spots you can shoot through. Make this map HUGE, but tight..kinda like Ambush. Make this a night map IN THE RAIN, like Wetworks.
That’s all I have at the moment…my boss is due to drop in any moment so I better jet.
Thanks 402!
Michael Hill // February 5, 2008 at 12:15 pm
Hi 402
I would like to see more sniper friendly maps and also supressors for the sniper rifles, and also an incentive to keep going through prestige mode other than an icon.
Also could you please give us an estimate of the completion date for the EU connectivity patch which addresses the hit recognition?

Not to be a downer (I am so addicted to this game; I’m 1,450th in kills), but what I’d really like to see is some info regarding the impending auto update for the 360. There were a few teases back in November and December, but nothing as of late. Is it just stuck in Q&A limbo?

i want a HUGE, WIDE OPEN AREA with real military bunkers and foxholes everywhere…some wood, some outskirt city parts - and the best would be a switch between midday and night during the game…
may be some vehicles???
ReDuX // February 5, 2008 at 2:43 pm
How about a straight up sniping map .For instance 2 bunkers across from one another and a river between that u can cross or not cross your choice . It’s tough to snipe anymore with the runandgunners . So a nice big sniping map im sure everyone would enjoy. Also how about a silenced sniper rifle!
HBROCKS // February 5, 2008 at 2:58 pm
How about a map where there is a building with flamable gas in it, and if you use your gun it would blow you up, so therefore you would only beable to use your knife…what do yall think of that one.
MarksManofGod77 // February 5, 2008 at 3:00 pm
I think a map like the camp in rambo, jungle setting, towers for snipers, bridges and back cliffs to sneak in by at night, rain, the whole nine, it would give a lot of strategic advantage and it would be fun for the infiltrating games, teams would then have more variety on how to play based on what side you are on, you get in, or you defend, add some trucks to hide in/under. Fences with broken areas to sneak in, buildings that people can hide in and shoot out of that have cracks in the wall, that kind of thing. Also, snow would be good. But more importantly, a level with more trees and bushes, so the sniper ghillie can really be utilized, all we really have now is overgrown, and getting the suit on the other levels is kind of pointless, a bush stands out in the middle of an airbase. So, more jungle based, like the Mission “All Ghillied Up”. Other than that, fantastic game, i havent put it down since it came out, fantastic multiplayer. oh…and please fix the sniping soon! i cant stand hitting someone center mast with a .50 cal sniper and them walking away, with out stopping power, that would stop someone… Thanks again IW! and 402 (ps. if you are hiring video editors…let me know!)

I would love to see a ‘Remembrance Pack’ that has a few of the classic COD 2 maps, e.g. Carentan. Just replace the old WW2 burnt out tanks with modern ones and remove any text/signs from the era. The graphics & level design of the old COD 2 maps would still be perfect in COD 4 today!!! I want to sprint up the main street in Carentan with my Desert Eagle & helicopter support in tow, raining down metal justice :o)

All this Mapping contest and talk of DLC maps is to distract us from the real issues! They are just trying to cause a stir around here to make us feel a lil better about all the crap on here. I love this game and I don’t care how much people come on here and bi**h about this game YOU LOVE IT TOO, or you wouldnt be here bi**hin too! All I know is we need some host migration badly..mute..banning of the( I need attention) colored names/clan tags, hit detection. I’ll believe these maps will be out by spring when pigs fly! Just like the feature patch / or EU patch. We may get the patches by spring and maybe maps by summer. And for any of you fools who went and purchased a pc version and fed them more money just to make maps that probably wont see the ps3 anyway your foolish ..not like your gonna get paid lol..maybe your name will be posted here in the forum, with a pat on the back

The TV station from “Charlie Don’t Surf” would be a great multiplayer map. “Nicolli” is at night and indoors and outdoors so it would be good too. Something like Crash or District at night. The abandoned amusement park by Chernobl would be fun.

Hey 402, can you comment on the possibility of a CTF gametype? I know you’ve mentioned it was a possibility in the past. Is this still something that has a decent shot of happening?
HOODBOYZ // February 5, 2008 at 6:15 pm
Well it seems from reading a lot of comments on various sites that the most prodominant map people want to see is a map similar to Overgrown with lots of outdoor area with vegetation. Also some way to incorporate the night vision goggles.
I think that the map Pipeline was great, but the wasted space on the top of the map was so detailed but no one uses it. That area would make for great map theme.
cuz12 // February 5, 2008 at 6:28 pm
What about a forest type battlefield, with like a “Hamburger Hill” type mountain in the middle (or part of the battle field somewhere). There has to be some good tree cover on the hill, pits, rocks, bomb scarred terrain, etc and you could put some cave like trenches/paths through the mountain to be used to access different parts of the hill under cover. Could be very cool for a sabotage type game as well if the bomb had to be planted at the top of the hill, like at a headquarters or something.
Lots of comments from others on snow battlefields…that can be cool if you do it right, but you got to have a lot of cover, buildings, good sniper spots, or something…not just an open mountain like in GRAW 2, that map sucked. I’d pass on the night vission myself, but if it was done right, I’ll play whatever.
I must agree with others though…..nooooooooooo re-vamped maps from old games…that’s why they are OLD! If I wanted to play those old maps, I’d play those old game and not COD4! Come out with some new stuff, make the levels crazy…that’ll make this game even better and I’ll buy it.
DPresidential // February 5, 2008 at 7:41 pm
Fourzerotwo,
Map design is an integral piece of the enjoyability of the Call of Duty experience. I can not stress to you enough about how important it is to design future maps that eliminate the ability to automatically kill the opposing team “right at the start of the map” on search and destroy. When playing Search and Destroy, and you can’t walk for 2 seconds in a particular direction before an M203, grenade, or bullet takes you out of the round, I am sure the reasonable person will agree there is something wrong with the map design, especially when all the opposing team(or the player himself) needs to do is aim the M203 at a particular angle 2 seconds into the game, everytime, at a particular angle, everytime.
The match would be particularly more enjoyable in maps designed to have the players not able to determine the exact time the enemy will be at a particular point everytime. Granted, in a search and destroy match, with 2 areas being defended, you will know the opposing team will be there eventually, however the most important thing is timing. A player should not have the ability to count off seconds in his head where he knows the opposing team will have to pass at a particular time if they want to go to Point A, and cook a grenade, throw it, and know he will kill someone. The player skill level for a search and destroy map decreases, tactical and strategic options become limited, and overall enjoyment suffers.
Understand, I do not criticize an individual for using the grenade launcher, rpg, sniper rifle or any other weapon. If during the course of the round, and you happen to flank the opposing team, or even just see the opposing team and you fire, you deserve your credit. However, is there any support for the idea that there is credible skill when a player, who knows the other team cannot avoid going a certain route that is visible from his spawn and fires off a grenade because he aims up alittle? I highly doubt it.
Good examples of exploitive maps:
Ambush
Bog
District
Look forward to the new maps. Thank you.

Does this guy even reply back to your suggestions? Fix the online first. or better yet get sme decicated servers instead of being cheap bastards
Senor Barrigas // February 5, 2008 at 8:03 pm
To expand on what Hoodboyz said about Pipeline
I never really noticed back there until one day that i was just messing around. There is a little command post that you can get into and walk around. They should add a bomb to that side of the field or something else like an HQ point. There is also a spot on District that I never knew was there way in the back by “A” that the wall goes in and its a perfect place to hide. ( not that i do it) But re arranging some HQ or bomb points to further back into the map would be a good up date.
Now to the new maps, NO MORE SHIPS!!! Give us one more “point whore”, “all mayhem”, type of map like Shipment. The TV station would be a sweet map with up stairs been accessible, giving you the ability to look down.
Also an outside map, a la Overgrown, but at dusk or night time.
thanks again for a great game guys. Keep it up!

Thanks for all the feedback, we have a lot of cool one-off suggestions in here too. I’m making sure these are brought up with the team here so your suggestions are being heard.

Some all in door maps would be cool something like the building that you go through and shoot the t.vs and tunnels like war room, and because its indoors we can have maps that we dont have to worry about choppers and air strikes maybee on these levels when you get to 5 and seven kills you get our ammo and frags restocked also can we get team death match score up’d to 2000 points to win, ive been in games that only lasted 4 minuets and you have like 3 people waiting to use a chopper they earned only to get screwed out cause the game ended to fast
Nick // February 6, 2008 at 3:00 am
Night time maps
Snow maps
A dark snow map
A mall map.
More wide open maps, overgrown as an example.
A huge like office/multistory building (at least 3 or 4 floors) that has stairs of course, but add in some USABLE elevators. Imagine riding up in an elevator and as soon as it opens bullets start flying…that would be insane. Desks and cubicles everywhere to hide behind, tvs everywhere to add in a sense of destruction when they start exploding everywhere. Thats a dream map right there. Have the lights on the ceiling destructable so you can turn a whole room or floor into darkness in order to force the enemy to use night vision. And when the lights are shot out, there shouldnt be any magical light coming out of nowhere…it should be pitch black.

Definitely some maps with snow, it’s been quite a while since we’ve had a GOOD multiplayer game with a GOOD snow level… Maybe one of the snowy areas around where you plant C4 on that huge antenna to knock it down, just before the countdown area.
Also, maybe another map where it’s raining like downpour, or some other effect that is innovative, unexpected and next-gen. A “Bog 2″ would be cool if we could fight from 2 story buildings and access the bridge… Maybe a linear map like wetwork with lots of broken cars and stuff on the highway.
Some variation of Bloc would be nice, allowing us to fight in a setting similar to the early area of the mission with Captain McMillan. Or even the end of the level with the area near the Ferris Wheel.
Also, definitely another map with a 3 or more story building, and another map in a sandy area similar to the charlie don’t surf level. Maybe the level where we are escorted by a tank would be nice, the one that starts out with the enemies around the bus and the helicopter above it.
Last but not least, a setting similar to that when the nuclear explosion goes off. Definitely great mood and environment there.
Also would be cool, since we’re talking about DLC, to add on a few new free perks and/or support (ex. helicopter, airstrike…

All I would really like to see out of you guys, ALLTOGETHER, in the SPAN of this games lifetime (2 years?), are as followed:
10-13 new maps
Fixed accuracy on the snipers, and acog (Coming soon, I hear! =D)
The Reflex SOPMOD scope you have on the singleplayer! This ought to be easy to port over, and it would be a timeless feature.
Another simple feature: The ability to camo your sniper like you would a ghillie suit; Like the one in singleplayer.
Honestly, these next ones aren’t my biggest requests (though probably hardest), but I’d love to see 2 new weapons for each category. I’m sure a lot of people would be more than willing to pitch in some ideas on the weapons. Pistols! We need a couple more (Bren Ten, Px4 Storm, Taurus Raging Bull, etc).
I’d gladly put down 15 bucks for all that I’ve mentioned and I’m sure many others would too; 8 bucks per map pack (5 maps each) but I guess the drawback to adding weapons would be the lack of profit due to MS not allowing other players to pay for an advantage over others

I really loved the map stalingrad on cod2, acctually i just loved how there was 2 sides of the map and 2 had very good sniping buildings and some spots on the walkway thing to poke out and get a shot off. I really think you should recreate that map
kinny999 // February 6, 2008 at 10:37 pm
Cheers for the info , in the update i would really like to see :-
* A couple (or more!) of really big maps so you can snipe for more than 20 secs without getting knifed through the eardrum (maybe on the scale of BFMC2 if possible?).
* A quick mute feature to use on the racist/homophobic scumbags that plague XBL.
*Less splash damage on the pineapples of death.
*Removal of grenade indicators for teammates grenades.
*Chance to pick map/specific gametypes in public games, although i doubt this is an easy request to fulfill.(would be nice though)
*Reduced range on the chopper because on some maps the team that get the first chopper almost always win.
*Choice of the angle that the airstrike comes from to avoid it hitting just buildings, maybe mapped to the d pad once you select the area for the air strike.
*Maybe a choice of main weapon for the chopper?
*Smaller writing above the heads of players in game as it tends to obscure stuff sometimes? Maybe just a red circle which when you hover on shows the name of players?
*Most of all some big big maps please, and maybe some weirder designs of maps along with the ability to rate maps?
*A completely indoor one but on several levels, like vacant but wholly indoors? with a loads of choke points but multiple routes.
*Maps that incorporate risky areas (like on a boat but with massive waves at certain points that incur damage or knock players overboard)Or a busy automated factory?(like the ending or terminator)
* A couple of maps that are specifically sniper maps so that those who choose to snipe can enjoy it without getting knifed.
*Quicker C4 planting/detonating would make it a far greater tool.
* A perk which makes campers/martyrdom users/last stand users/insert annoying game style here - turn pink or wear dresses or appear as clowns.
Sorry for the long list , got carried away, but as long as you give us some more maps in the same vain as you already have (but bigger if poss), we’ll all be happy!!!
Oooh ooh, how about an oil rig map, or a map which has an oil rig and an island seperate and you can pick your spawn point when you die.
Thats it, for now……………………. Ta

Supressor for Sniper Rifles.
A must have along with the Reflex Scope from the single player campaign.
For maps, South American or African Jungle level would be great. Lots of vegetation and trees to hide behind.
I also agree with someone’s post above about exploiting some of sections of maps that never get used like in District and Pipeline. You should shift bomb, target and HQ locations there in a random fashion. No need to let those detailed areas of the maps go to waste.
Love the game. Love it.

I would continue playing this game for years if IW simply just released maps from COD, COD2, and COD3. This game is so fun. I just hope IW continues supporting it long after COD5 comes out.
This game is such a huge success, I hope IW milks it for all it’s worth and releases 4 - 5 maps every 2 months for a year or two. I would keep paying. That is the only thing about console play, you don’t have the community creating more maps and mods for it that can keep a game alive for quite sometime.

i’ve been reading a lot of comments about night maps, and i might be ignorant about the possibilities, but if a match is on a time limit, is it possible to take place during a sunrise or sunset where the light is actually changing?
Shadows could play a huge role in hiding and using NVG and as the match goes on, you would have to adjust your playing style.
Just an idea, and I know you are listening, so thanks a lot for giving us an excellent game with or without DLC. I honestly didn’t think the gameplay could get better than COD2, but you have outdone yourself.
Ruric // February 7, 2008 at 7:27 pm
I would love to see a larger scale map that has a combo of outdoor and inside fighting. For example, when in campaign mode, we fight our way into the TV station. Primary battle is outside, with close quarter combat inside. Maps like that would be great for headquarters or S and D, but the inside needs to be a lot different than in vacant(I think that’s the map name).
Another idea I REALLY REALLY hope they put into the patch is new random spawn locations for all maps. Nothing is more frustrating that getting spawn killed by a spam nade in the first 15 seconds of a S and D or sabatoge match… (I know, just don’t go that way but sometimes you have to…
Overall, I think if the new maps are as good as what we have now, we will all be in for a treat, and if they are better, well, so much better for all of us!
Mars // February 7, 2008 at 7:38 pm
I would definitely like to see a two story middle eastern mall. I imagine something similar to Vacant in that there would be plenty of close quarters fighting between the many stores and access corridors. Some stores would have holes blown in the walls like the bathroom of Vacant. Also similar to Bloc in that there should be a medium sized courtyard in the middle of the map (possibly with a fountain and indoor garden area with bushes and trees). This would allow for sniper spots in the stores. It would also be cool if there’s wreckage of a downed fighter jet blocking one of the escalators.
Many people have said it already, but more nighttime maps. Ambush night or another middle eastern desert town at night would be great.
Mars // February 7, 2008 at 7:50 pm
Also, a Russian subway station would be great, like the Moscow metro system - plenty of pillars and nooks for cover. It seems that many people are hoping for all-indoors levels.
Thanks for asking us (the players) for ideas. It really shows how committed you guys are to making sure we’re satisfied.
Ruric // February 7, 2008 at 8:01 pm
Besides maps, I wouldn’t mind seeing a few new game modes. Examples:
Escort:
team A has to escort “target VIP” to an extraction point. Team B has to kill VIP. Another option would be to have Team A have to find the VIP (or object, intel maybe?) If VIP is a player, they have to let them out of a cell, untie, whatever before they can go towards extraction point.
Team battle:
and have it ranked. Also have the feature to invite or challenge other teams. Perfect for Clan battles, and is ranked! Maybe include a new catagory in the leaderboard for clans??
Like team death match, but you can only enter with a Full team (4, 6 or
Domination:
Team A is ‘pinned down’ in an area, Team B must eliminate Team A. Team A wins by elminating all of Team B or after a set time limit expires (enforcements arrive) Team B wins by elminiating all of Team A before time expires.
Smaller team matches - matches for teams of 2 or 3.
Conqure mode:
mulitple targets need to be destroyed (no need to get bomb, just hold X) 3 to 6 targets. Team A defends, Team B assults. Makes teamwork more critical. Team A wins by eliminating Team B or by default after time limit. Team B wins by elminating Team A or destroying all objectives. Teams switch after a few rounds like in S and D.
These are just a few ideas.
The thought of buying new maps for online brings up the question about what happens when you try to go into a map that you do not have? That person just gets kicked back to the lobby?
Weapon add ons - if you have to purchase a new weapon pack (IE: a new sub-machine gun) and you die, can someone that has not purchased the new weapon pack pick this weapon up like we can now?
Bottom line: Game ROCKS now, I hope these new updates only make it better, and don’t change the overall dynamic of it.
Everyone has made this game #1 for what it is. Don’t change too much. Fix some of the bugs, add a few maps, or game modes, but don’t touch much else.
Robert // February 8, 2008 at 12:30 am
First of all, to all the guys at IW, you guys own. CoD is the sickest game ever, it has totally owned my life since it’s release. Now, what i’d like there to be in the new maps is destructible enviornments, obviously not everything, taking don entire buildings would be a little to much, but knocking down walls and things like that would be cool. Also, more rewards for kill streaks, don’t let it stop at 7 kills, at least reset it and keep earning UAVs and all that. Here’s a map i’ve been thinking of, an all indoors map located in a 3 to 4 story building, a little resemblance to Vacant but with more cover. This map would take place in the night, and I think the lights inside the builiding should be able to be shot out, making the map pitch black. And lastly, I think every map could should be able to be played in day or night. Hopefully you guys will use or consider some of these ideas. Keep up the good work IW.

MR FOVAN // February 8, 2008 at 6:51 am
I’d like to make a unique post since most regarding NVG, Forrest, Bigger Maps, Day/Night Alternation have already been dicussed. I would be interested in seeing more maps made that are setup well for Search & Destroy. I understand that you have said that you design your maps with TDM in mind, although TDM and Search & Destroy are played quite differently. I’m sure that you, IW, have noticed that your 2nd most played gametype is in fact “Search & Destroy”. There is one dilemna that i’d like to bring up about maps when played on Search & Destroy that many feel affects the gameplay negatively:
Keep in mind I am solely discussing this matter regarding Search & Destroy. Alright, so Search & Destroy! I love the tactical shooting gameplay… except that half of the games i play are NOT tactical shooting.. more so tactical grenade placement.. By this i mean the infamous “Random grenade” i’m using this as the general term for a Thrown Grenade or a Grenade Launcher. .. we all do it and it ruins the whole SHOOTING part for half the players each round in Search & Destroy.
For example: Wetwork.. A very THIN stage where if the whole team throws grenades they can cover the whole enemy teams path. Thus removing half the enemy team. The enemy team will do vice versa and there you go, half the players round is cut at 5 seconds because they were going to the spot they were supposed to “DEFEND” but could hardly even make it out of their spawn due to the “Grenade Parade” . And dont even get me started if they ALL have Frag x3…
The following are my proposals to fix our grenade problem, although I feel that solution #1 is the most reasonable, and best choice of action:
1. Fix the spawn points - If you are like me, and play COD4 enough to memorize the spawn points and patterns of the teams. Then you know exactly where to throw that grenade, to tag the enemies coming right coming out of their spawn. As for these spawn points, i mean in Search & Destroy, considering you spawn in the EXACT same spot every round. Not to mention they could fix how the 1st round there is no laggy start but all the others there are. So if you make the spawn points unreliable, then people wont know when to throw their grenade. This could also freshen up the game and keep teams on their toes instead of sprinting to a location and aiming down “that doorway” to peg the players running through it.
2. Add a 30-60 second grenade restriction - If this is introduced, then players will have no choice but to wait to use their grenades later on when they dont know the “usual location” of their enemies.
3. Shorten the grenade throwing distance - I’m not sure if its just me, but the soldiers in COD4 and throw like a professional baseball pitcher. I’ve tried, and on some maps i can literalry throw a grenade from one end of the map to the other.
4. Make an option to toggle grenades on/off - This is rather self explanitory, similar to GRAW’s option of turning on/off explosives.
Some may argue with this and say that you can just evade the grenades when they’re thrown, but if they are cooked and thrown right on your choke point, its not that easy. Also I’ve tried to put on extreme conditioning and running past the grenades, but then I get “random grenaded”. When I look at the Kill Cam, He too has extreme conditioning, AND frag x3. Some may also say that you can wait the grenades out then move your way in, except that while youre waiting, the enemy team has already moved up and taken position at the bomb location that YOU are supposed to be defending. This eventually turns to be the Defending teams playing offense, since the Offence has planted the bomb before the Defenders have even been able to get there.
-Maps that I think are examples of where this occurs are: Wetwork, District, Crossfire, Ambush, Backlot, Bog.
-Maps that i feel are layed out correctly are: Pipeline, Bloc, Vacant… I feel these are layed out correctly for Search & Destroy because the Defense is actually able to get to their defending locations, and well, Defend lol.
I would like to say that i feel that the best approach to fixing this is Changing up the spawn points. If we can just make the spawn points so they unreliable enough to a point that the enemies dont have “That spot” to throw the grena
