So What’s Happening on PC and PS3?

I know that all the PS3 and PC players have been waiting for information during this onslaught of Xbox 360 patch release and I want to let you know that you haven’t been forgotten, there are still things happening on your fronts as well.

The PS3 feature patch is currently at certification at Sony and has been for about a week now. It’s going through it’s necessary channels worldwide for each respective region. We haven’t heard any problems back so that’s a great sign. We haven’t received any eta from Sony (which is typical for these types of things) but if I hear any indication of when you might be able to expect it I’ll pass it along.

As for the PC version, Patch 1.6 will be the one that introduces the new Kill Cams and other features the console feature patches received for you guys. The work is done on that patch and it’s essentially awaiting and going through internal QA here at Infinity Ward and then Activision. The good thing about the PC version is it doesn’t require any certification so as soon as it’s finished internal QA it heads out the door to the players. I will try to get a full list of what PC Patch 1.6 includes as I believe there are a few more PC specific things in there besides just the added Kill Cams and such. Don’t forget we still have the Custom Map contest going until March 31st, if you have the PC version and want to check out all the cool custom maps everyone is making we have a running list going with all the current releases and beta maps in the works. I’m greatful for the news, but it still rubs me the wrong way that were always last, and a long way behind too (PS3)

P.S if these patches aren’t released at the same time worldwide for ps3, and the EU has to wait months after again, im trading this game in for Army of Two or Rainbow Six Vegas 2 because it’s just unfair.

Hey 402,

I just typed out almost an entire essay here, but post didn’t work! Dammit.

Well anyways…I’ll start it over.

Something needs to be done about the team killing in Hardcore search and Destroy. I’m sure everyone will agree that it is getting rediculous.

Having friendly fire on is awesome, it makes the game more intense….FOR GOOD PLAYERS.

I myself am in my 5th prestige and I’m tired of getting noob tubed and RPG’d at the beginning of S&D matches by people who aren’t even out of the first tier yet.

I think INFINITY WARD really really needs to make the patch require players to be AT LEAST the first prestige level to play hardcore Search and Destroy.

It will filter out all of the douchebags and assholes that team kill all day long.

I am sure many players will back me up on this…except the team-killing douches themselves.

Was wondering if there were plans for a new kill cam for the Sniperguns, maybe a bullet cam for head shots. So you can watch the bullets travel the level and stike that headshot. please email me

Update has been good for sure, just a question…Since downloading it, connection wait times to enter a match has increased big time. Waiting 2 to 5 mins. for a new match to start is simply too long.
I live in Canada and have a DSL connection.

Ideas?

If you take the time to read 402’s older posts, you’ll see one date from 2/26 that reads:

“As for work related, looks like the Sony PS3 Worldwide Feature patch has started it’s certification process according to production, I will confirm that tomorrow with the official, “PS3 Feature Patch in Certification” post as it just finished up Activision QA today and was being sent over so I’ll wait to celebrate till it’s officially at Sony and going through the rounds. That’s for worldwide users (except for Korea and Japan), so everyone should get it on the PS3 at the same time.”

… I think this should quell your questions and (hopefully) your attacks.

You guys at IW should really think about releasing info/screens of the new maps and DLC soon, like this week or next. With Army of Two, Condemned Bloodshot, Rainbow Six Vegas 2, and GTA IV all coming soon there will be a lot of players, myself included, that will be very tempted to move their playing time to a different game. Just a quick description of what is to come would be great, something a little more than teasers.

I totally agree with you, all you hear is about xbox 360. I bet you IW will fix all the issues with the xbox 360 patch before ours comes out. They will get the dlc maps first and knowing iw charge less for them. How i wish Resistance 2 was out so it can shame this game to hell. When ps3 back on top after 2008 IW will kiss sony ass. Ever since Christmas, it’s been obvious that they were unprepared/incapable of handling the PS3 platform.

For a solid two weeks, nobody could even play the game online. Meanwhile their entire company is shut down for the holidays? Then they make some “mystery adjustment” on January 9th, and suddenly the gameplay is changed completely, and there’s so much lag that it’s nearly unplayable at times.

Now we’re 2 moths removed from the last time they screwed things up, and they have yet to correct their mistakes. Instead, they’re busy adding kill-cams, tweaking the sniper rifles, and adding new maps. Those are all great, but what good do they do if gameplay is still off?

As soon as they screwed things up 2 months ago, their #1 priority should have been to get the game working properly again. Not working on “features”, but working on function. They should have foreseen the potential for issues before this game was even released, but once it was clear that your game doesn’t work in the real world, nothing else should matter until you get the freaking game working.

I know I harp on this a bit, but it’s just baffling how clueless an international video game company can come across.

The game obviously has big problems for a lot of users, and the problems are the same for everyone who is complaining. They have every right to create a thread everyday and email IW relentlessly until their game is fixed. If you cannot play the game properly that is a defective game in my opinion. If a game does not work the way it was intended and they do not promptly fix the problem, the developer should at the very least admit that there are BIG problems with the game. But nope, as far as the rest of the world is concerned this game works perfectly, they are winning awards left right and center and feeding everyone bullpoop. Look at fourzerotwo, when he announced the new maps, he said “We strive to bring the best in our online gaming experience and continue to do so with new downloadable content” or something along those lines. They havent dont a ****ing thing to fix the game so far, instead they have taken two months to release a ****ing patch?? It really shouldnt have taken two months for this patch, the connection “improvements” should have been released ages ago, seperate from the feature patch.

Today when i was playing Headquarters on my PS3, when the game starts, i am starting from the enemy base along with the enemies but not my team mates. It happened twice today. As soon as the game loads the aim turns red and the enemy is in front of me..Is this a glitch???

Sony do not disclose their certification process, I have tried during the long wait for the connectivity patch to get information on its release. The will only tell Activsion/IW of the patches current status. You can barrage SCEA and SCEE if you want it wont do you much good. Anyway thanks again 402 for the information, I posted it on the IW forum for you so to get the information to the masses, they need to have ingored it, so I would suggest you post the information yourself

It took IW 14 extra days to finish the ps3 patch and send it to sony. So dont you blame sony. Iw probably finished the xbox 360 patch and then started working on ps3 last. I’ve had the same problem as thebigb59. Spawning with the enemy team instead of my own. There have been a lot more connection drops lately too. I’ve also had the game freeze on me, which has never happened before.
Wondering if this has anything with Sony about to implement the patch?
What really sucks is dying from an air strike, and then spawning in the middle of the strike to die again. Or spawning and then having an enemy run around the corner and kill you a millisecond later.

IW doesn’t seem to realize that they are working against time. New games are released every so and often and keeping players requires activity on IW’s part. Sony/Activision/Demonware are not required to be active towards players which hurts IW’s work. As fun as shifting responsibility is in PR sense, it does not help anyone. Personally seen this mess evolve, I think IW should have released smaller updates more often to workaround the “testing/certification delays”. It is hard to believe that Sony/Activision/Demonware would limit the amount of game updates. The whole point of having net access and simple DLC is to update the games speedily as many times as needed, not to wait and bundle up everything possible into one update (which then may or may not bomb). Case in example: Sony itself updates their PS Store every Thursday. Why doesn’t game developers get weekly update slots? Double standards ftw.

Thanks for the update. A quick off-topic message:

I’m experiencing some weird problems persisting on the 360 version.

1. Matchmaking still takes forever (15-20 min) to fill up a match and start.

2. When I click “Y” in the lobby to view the current progress…my progress bar shows large negative number and the bar graphic extends all the way to the end of the game screen. Really weird.

3. In the lobby the game shows me at level 52 with 4 stars, which is correct. However, when go into the “Barracks” part of the menu, it shows me at Lv. 1 with a large negative number.

I know you guys are working on a fix (I hope), just wanted to add the details on the level score bug.

Of course your going to keep playing the game, your not going to throw their money away. If they could return the game for your money back, many people would do it. IW a joke right now, go check out the boards on ps3, charlie delta everybody knows that their screwing the ps3 users. For the pc and ps3 users IW a joke.

Quick question about the Custom Map contest.
I used to be a PC player but now play CoD4 on 360, so I do miss the custom map community, but I’ve heard rumors that winners of the Custom Map contest might see their maps ported to console versions.

I know rumors usually arn’t true, but is this something you guys are actually planning, or might look into, cause from my PC days, I know custom maps have the potential to be simply amazing shows of map design, and I’d hate to miss out on that.

hey just wanted to leave some feedback about the patch.

I am an american player who typically parties with a wide array of players. sometimes other americans sometimes aussies and sometimes the UK.

in terms of the selecting a new host in the lobby after the old one leaves, we seem to have a lot of instances where the game tells us it can’t migrate the host and closes the lobby. is there a way to make this occur less that i can do? or is that spacifically related to the game itself?

it’sd be nice to fix that because it happens at least 2-4 times a night.

I checked work done by mp_Car park producer and he s got some nice ideas and his new mp_radiation might have nice climate. LOVE the GAME, would love more great maps. Keep up good work.

Whats going on with the Kill Ratio For PS3 someone has 100.03 are you kidding me if thats not a Cheat than there has to be some sort of problem… The Highest that I have seen was 5.11… 100.03 is impossible you would have to be like rambo and kill everyone with out dying getting kill streaks of like 95 for every 1 death

Fourtwozero, can you make sure the patch includes fixes for mappers so we can take minimap screenshots. Also i would like to see the spacebar and ctrl key working in spectate mode so we can go up and down as well as move around. Also a hot key to remove all the HUD info would be welcome!

402, I think its awesome that you read all of these comments and e-mails and such. It it great to hear that there is work being done to improve our gaming experience.
I personally have a problem getting into multiplayer with my PS3. It ALWAYS says “Downloading Game Settings…,” and I can’t get past it very often at all. When I do get past the DGS screen, it rarely saves my stats, so even though I am gaining XP it doesn’t rank me up. I know it isn’t my internet connection because I play online PC games with a very low ping, and I was playing COD4 on my XBOX with no problems. After returning the XBOX to get a PS3, I was disapointed to see that I can’t play online. It worked perfectly for the 360. I would like to see some detailed news about whether the patch will help to resolve this issue. COD4 is the only reason I bought a console.
I have also thought of some possible neat additions to the game. I think the ability to dive (running then going to crouch without the ability to shoot while in midair) would be a cool addition to the game.
COD4 is great. Its great that you are still working on it. I hope that I can play it online soon.

Seems the same people keep coming back here…hoping for some good news like me?
I had another weird thing happen yesterday, I was playing team deathmatch and both teams were SAS?! Made for a confusing game.
I really hope the lag issues get addressed. I don’t know how many times I’ve emptied a full clip into someone only to have them kill me and the kill cam shows me barely firing a shot. I’ve also noticed this with snipers. I was playing on Bog, standing next to the bus, took a shot from a sniper but I didn’t go down, so I ran behind the bus, and then got sniped. The kill cam showed me still standing in plain view.
Since I’m complaining; about snipers…
I have nothing against sniping, it can be fun and effective. It’s the tendency of snipers to camp that is annoying. especially on levels like Shipment. When a sniper hangs out at the back of the ship it forces us all to respawn at the back as well, instead of closer to the middle. This allows the enemy to get too close. I’ve watched them hang out up there while there is a massive fire fight going on right below them, unable to do anything because everyones too close and running around like maniacs. When there are no snipers on my team for this level it is much easier to dominate and push the enemy all the way back and force them to respawn on the other side of the ship. (hopefully right next to our sniper who go left behind!)
Some levels are great for sniping, like Crash and Bog. And many offer anti-camping camping spots. If that makes sense. (Two great spots on either side of the map to snipe at the three story building in Crash come to mind.)
On other thing. In addition to being able call in an airstrike and helicopter, how about being able to unleash a pack of wild dogs!

Its working now, what a weird weekend I have had with everything to do with IW, my first experince of Downloading Game Settings when i search for match, have to reset my router. The constant lag, the abusive people on mic, the annoying host ended the game, being sniped all the way from the otherside of the map by a lmg. All good fun, thought I would try out Army of Two and its crap, so the only game that will take me away from cod4 is killzone and thats out winter I think
