We’ve touched down in New York and are held up in Hotel Chandler getting ready to head over to the Gamestop on Broadway to check out the set up for the Variety Map Pack hands-on event tomorrow. Before that though I made sure we took advantage of being on the East Coast and hunted down the first White Castles we could find to score a Crave Case of cheeseburgers.
Once we finished up destroying the Crave Case we stopped by the Gamestop location to check out the early set-up process. The first few hundred attendees will snag a token to download the new Map Pack for Free next week on Xbox 360. Along with that we’ll be hosting a tournament on the new maps tomorrow a the Gamestop here in New York where players can win a $1000 in Giftcards to Gamestop as well as some other prizing and swag including Call of Duty 4 Dog Tags to those in line, and a more swag.

Is this the first official IW COD4 tournament? Will there be any more like Halo3 gets? Can you make the menu system look and work more like Halo3’s? I remember my first impression of the beta was ‘OMG this menu system looks like a ten year old DHTML menu - but its a beta so they’ll improve it’. Yeah right.

Maps, schmaps…I’ve been playing new maps on the PC for a week now.
It is a bit funny though. This whole PC vs. Xbox (PS3), it’s starting to remind me of the old PC vs. Mac for gaming spoof.

I sure hope every IW member playing the maps in public spawned on a grenade, facing the sky/wall, or directly in front of an enemy to be instantly killed. Just to demonstrate the real value one gets in purchasing these maps.

For those who purchased this game after the middle of January, you don’t know what you’re mising. This game ran as smooth as the single player game all the time. Then a patch came out and hilarity in games ensued.

I was at the NY Gamestop event. It was fun and I saw 402. No joke. He was wearing a shirt that said “Go Hard, Go Deep”. You can guess at the jokes made by people waiting on line for the tournament. It was a great night. The rules were blah but I guess it was most suitable considering over 150 plus came. The rules were Team Deathmatch. 6v6. The MVP of the match moved to the next round. I lost in the first round and the MC for the event made fun of my girlfriend cause she wore a Nintendo sweatshirt at a 360 event. They had a bunch of other stuff there and free swag. Only the first 100 got the free maps. Some guy who was still waiting online after I was about to leave begged me to sell him my free map pack for $10 but I told him thats how much they are selling it online for. He still wanted it. I still said no. Oh, and there were guys in ghillies suits. Overall… it was a great night and I wish I could attend more events like this.

Hi fourzerotwo many of the ps3 users are having problems with their mics. When playing online with friends or solo, the voice chat goes out and you can not hear anyone talking. Sometimes I can’t hear a person on my squad but they can hear me, or vise versa. I’ve even had instances where I’ve heard a person from the other team (without the eavesdrop perk). So can you please look into it.

I know that 402 is on the receiving end of a lot of verbal artillery right now, but I can’t help wondering if IW and 402 himself are to blame for this. I’ve been involved with communities (XBOX) since 2002. When CoD 4 was released it was the first time I ever heard of a “community relations manager” and I thought - GREAT - a channel where gamers can adress game issues etc! Well, to tell you the truth, I’m pretty dissapointed with the whole “relations” thing. I have good relations with a lot of people involved in the gaming industry (EA, Ubisoft, Microsoft, Codemasters to name a few). With good relations I mean I get responses when I ask questions via email, to forum threads etc and I get news and updates. This is not the case with IW. I have even asked my contact at Activison (who actually sponsor my website) to patch my questions throught to IW, but she hasn’t any more luck than me. I’m beginning to believe that someone at IW misprinted 402’s business card and employment contract. Perhaps the title should be Public Relations Manager? Because 402 seems to do a great job (and I sincerely mean that) with promoting the game. The Community Relations part leaves a lot to be desired. Just putting up a blog where PR events are put on display won’t do the trick I’m afraid. CoD 4 players all over the world, using XBOX 360’s, PlayStation 3’s and PC’s need answers to a lot of justified questions. Some answers would be appreciated - either here, in the forums at charlieoscardelta.com or in the PS3 and XBOX 360 forums dedicated to Call of Duty 4…

Hey Four Zero Two… Whats going on with the maps release date? Un-confirmed rumours are flying around that they are delayed from April 3rd to April 10th, but neither IW, Activision or yourself has made any comment to clarify the mess. There are a lot of angry and confused Xbox 360 CoD4 gamers who need answers. This isn’t good enough!

Probably for the same reason we heard about the reason for the PS3 delay from other sites. IW won’t own up to anything (PS3 delay, Xbox delay, patch creating more problems than it fixed…). Maybe they’re afraid for their lives from MS for breaking the “Thou Shalt not Shaft Xbox, only PS3″ commandment.

Seriously this is beyond lame. You’d think someone from IW could issue some kind of statement to clear up the mess. That’s ok though. They don’t need us. They surely would have been able to make a GotY edition without loyal, paying customers.

Team xbox has something about an announcement on their site from Activision/IW about the maps officially being delayed till the 10th. 402 if you dont know anything then tell us. Wont be mad or dissapointed. If its not IW and its MS tell us and we are cool. Just throw us a tiny bone here….

402, seriously man. We have had to wait almost half a year for these maps. That is a long wait for DLC and here we are on the eve of release and you/IW/Activision cant give its loyal customers a decent response. I hate to so negative and love CoD4 but this is ridiculous. Not that a 1 week wait is horrible, its just the lack of community response. The fact that this news is coming out a day after April Fools Day is making everyone look to you guys for clarification. Personally, you guys have had plenty of time to post an official statement of a delay. Its unacceptable the day before the release. We are the ones making CoD4 as successful as it has been. GotY edition, #1 played Xbox game, remember us. I would recommend communicating to that group of people instead of letting rumors get out of control. Its IW’s responsibility for damage control and letting it get out of hand reflects poorly on them. Sorry 402, but as community manager, you get the good and the bad. This one is the bad.

He aparently had time yesterday to check his myspace, but no time to drop a quick message. WTF I am guessing this is all a buch of BS. I don’t know what to think. I have to be to work in an hour with an answer on me taking the day off tommorrow or next thursday.I do know one thing is for sure it HAS to be a thursday, thats when PS store had updates.

you might be right, i just checked the XBOX forums and there was NEWS TODAY from teamxbox.com or something like that, that reads out the delay till 10th. if 402 isnt on top of his job, wich it seems like it is VERY possible, we might meet 403 the new CRM.

Mike Honcho - if you’re talking about PS3 we have a while to wait yet. I think I read on Gamespot today that there will be no knew DLC AT ALL from the store till the relaunch on the 17th (you’d better double check). The delay to the Xbox version may also mean an extra delay for us, I’m guessing. There’s no way to know till we get official word (although that often trns out to be overly optimistic). And we PS3 owners haven’t even been given word yet about the last patch!!

1.) Why is the PS3 getting maps late?
2.) Why won’t there be Dualshock 3 support?
3.) Why is “Host Migration” broken on the PS3?

Stop ignoring us. It isn’t hard to see the questions. They’re on this page, they’re on Charlie Oscar Delta, they’re on the IW forums. They aren’t hiding from you.
For a “Director of Communications / Community Manager” your communication skills are lacking.. and you are not relating to your community at all..
