Great new guys! SCEE has really come through, here’s the latest from them:

The Store has been updated so that each product states which BLES code it works with.

Furthermore, the forums have been updated to explain how the download works. The call centres have also been updated about how to handle this.

I hope this clarifies the steps that SCEE are taking to ensure the consumer has a successful and enjoyable experience with the map packs.

Hey Everyone –

Heads up for international users purchasing the Variety Map Pack for the PS3. The Variety Map Pack is Region Locked, which means that you MUST purchase the version of the map pack which is compatible with the version of the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare game disc that you have.

For example:

If you have the GERMAN version of the game, you MUST purchase the GERMAN version of the map pack.

If you have the UK version of the game, you MUST purchase the UK version of the map pack.

Just make sure that the Disc version and the Map Pack version matches up. If you have an UK version of the game, DO NOT purchase a German version of the map pack. It won’t work. The same goes for any other mismatched version.

For those of you who may have already purchased the incorrect language for the game disc you have, we are currently talking with Sony regarding any options you may have.

If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know. Thanks!

    @ Mindfloodz: The Map pack will be available in the US later today (mid-afternoon most likely). Regretfully there is not an exact ETA.

    Yeah… right when I have to be at work. Looks like I’ll be leaving my credit card with my room mates so I don’t have to wait while they play in THEIR rooms when I get home from work. I just have to hope I’m not grossly overdrawn and there isn’t a set of $3000 cylinder heads on the way to my apartment haha.

    omg news maps are amazing, earlier i did broadcast on s and getting 6 kills in a row. no one knew where they were. killhouse was the most surprising in that it works perfectly for a small team ie 3 people like i played. creek is crazy someone could be shooting from any. you have no choice but to focus in one direction and can never watch ur back.

    FourZeroTwo: I’m from the UK, but can’t purchase the maps as the PSN will not let me update my credit card details. I’ve tried many different credit cards, aswell as friends, but it keeps saying “Your credit card information could not be updated. Please try again in a few minutes.” Any ideas?

    @402: I know you are busy dealing with the map pack region lock issue, but can you also provide information about the 1.30 patch?

    Please include whether Host Migration is included, stopping the new hacks and if there any updates related to lag, desync or hit detection.

    1) Will the maps made by users for PC only be available for PC users, or would they possibly be distributed to the consoles?

    2) Will it ever be possible to play ALL the online multiplayer maps, offline? Like in split screen? I’m disappointed that I can’t play overgrown in split screen!

    2a) Are the 4 maps coming out today available to play in split screen?

    HOPELESS!! Surely someone in the development of these maps saw this problem coming?!?! I guess not…

    I have to say, as great as the game is, the infastructure and support surrounding it is very amateurish.

    Hopefully its a case of learning from mistakes… doubit it though.

    Take it from someone that has already been there.

    They are a great fix at first; but after a few days of playing them you will be glad to get the new ones in rotation and start playing the old maps again.

    Also expect a disaster when all of you try to download them at the same time.

    The first few got them ok because they came on some time early morning; but by the afternoon all hell broke loose.

    i have been renting the game and i pre-ordered the game at a gamestop store they are telling me that its not coming in until May 6th when if you order it on thier website it got shipped yester day why is this????? So not only am i missing out on the maps for 2 weeks but im missing out on Double XP weekend!!! This does not seem right and does not make me very happy and im sure thier are alot of people that pre-ordered this game!!!!!

    Sorry guys but for this sucks!

    Bought the map in the Swiss store… nothing works! You must be kidding to release this map pack weaks after weaks after the maps have hit the xbox live (with no bugs)… now finally arrived on the ps3 and you guys implement a region lock. Arrrg. Better fix this and the lousy server quality asap.

    We wipped out Xbox’s ability to handle all the downloads from about mid afternoon until near midnight if I remember correctly. It took my son 6 hours to get it after he first started trying.

    Of course I think there are many more Xbox users; so you may get lucky because you have less users to download it.

    I have it from a reliable source that the store only updates if you say please first. And if you don’t say thank you aftwards, it tends to corrupt your downloads.

    I have a feeling some of you will be blown away by Creek, Broadcast is dang fun too, Chinatown is a very difficult map for me.

    I got the USA version of CoD4, and i payed a friend 10€ to let me download off his account, (he lives in UK) and thanks to ur EFFIN region locking nonsense my maps wont work… this game is going to ebay.

    My wife is downloading it at home as I type… it’ll probably be done by the time I get home at the rate it’s going. If she had downloaded it to her PS3 first, I think that’s grounds for divorce.     No offense. I do not it. Why would you make anything region locked at all, to begin with. At least do not mess with the updates/DLC.

    Except the fact that I got a German passport, everything in my gaming is swiss.

    I bought my PS3 at a swiss retailer (GameStop in Zurich). I picked up my copy of CoD4 in the same store. Played it only with my swiss PSN-account. Downloaded the maps from the swiss store. And it does not work.

    Before bringing something so tightly region locked to Europe, understand that we live in tiny countries. Goods and people mix (& match ;) )!

    Chinatown, control the second story over the porno shop.

    In Creek, a ton of action is focused around the cave. Keep your head down if you have the lower half of the map.

    Broadcast is something else; several crazy ways to approach that one but one great choke point has to be the bathrooms. And the place to snipe or watch out for snipers are the two houses across the parking lot.

    Creek is for Hardcore all the way.

    Ground War Domination is INSANE on Chinatown.

    Every Game Type is insane on Broadcast, my favorite would be Hardcore SD.

    @ MAX The 1.3 update, you said it has variety map pack hard core. Does that mean they added a “game type” (search and destroy, headquarters, etc.) to the list? So I can just play the new maps?

    They combine some Game Types while you play only the new maps; after they go in regular rotation the Game Types are sperated again.

    Assuming they do PS3 like 360.

    yep. they have 3 new modes: variety pack team deathmatch, team objective, and hardcore. you cant play the new maps on any other game mode until after this weekend, when they’re integrated into the other playlists.

    i myself dont have a local psn store(my country is not listed) so i use a US account, which i put some money in through my brother getting me those gift credit cards . i got the game from the UK.

    im the same as alot of ppl .. im in the uk and didnt realise i had the u.s version of the game so i purchased the maps for £7 from the e.u store and now i cant play them .. i’d b very thankfull if u could let me know what i can do to get the maps :(

    Well you can use ANY credit card and just purchase the add one from UK account instead if thats where your game is from… dont know if youll get reimbursed for the already purchased US one… What sucks is if your PS account, meaning the one you use to play COD4 is on US… then your game save files will not reflect on the UK account… so you loose your weapons and stuff… and with the double XP point weekend starting your gonna want to keep at it with your existing account not the new one you know…

    i cant use my credit card to add money to my UK account cause my credit card’s address is local and when you try to add your credit card in the UK store it can only be a UK credit card

    cant change the country of the credit card

    i have no choice than be able to use US addon on my UK game that means sony unlock this region thing

    i dont think even if i can sort out to buy the UK addon through a friend i would want to start playing all over again

    really sad

    why would someone region lock DLC. there is no valid reason to do so whatsoever

    Hi, I have paid 10 euro’s. Is there a possible refund or is there a possibility that the game pack is unlocked? Got the game from my nice her boyfriend (US guy :-) but downloaded the map pack threw the Dutch PSN store. Greetings Ron (ps please give a solution or refund :-)

    I LIVE IN TURKEY AND WE HAVE NOT OUR OWN PSN STORE.ONLY WAY TO PURCHASE THOSE MAPS IS TO CREATE A FAKE BILLING ADRESS AT US PSN.(UK PSN does not work).
    So the ones that have pal version of cod4 will not gonna purchase it from UK PSN due to billing adress of our credit cards.INFINITY WARD…HEAR OUR VOICE FROM TURKEY AND UNLOCK REGION LOCKS for MAPS.So we can purchase those maps from US PSN.You make us shameful with our money!!

    nice work max. I was doing hardcore sex and destroy on Creek. On the first bomb everyone died on my team with me the only one left and the bomb going. I killed 4 of theirs, about 400 points. Then I went to diffuse the bomb. I got to the bomb 20 seconds left and I started to get shot but the person missed and I ducked knowing exactly where he was. I then pocked my head out for a second and headshotted him and I then diffused the bomb with literally 0.3 seconds . It was beautiful. *wipes a tear from his eye.

    I was doing Killhouse earlier with 3 players (two of my friends). And it is amazing, I was really surprised. I kept shooting the fake soldiers painted on the wood.

    Double points are nice.
